Since 2004, Cat Peña has cultivated her interest and understanding of the multifaceted field of pubic art and social practices by assuming the roles of public artist, fabricator, installer, project manager, educator, fundraiser, grant writer, and community organizer. It is from this knowledge that Peña successfully identifies, designs, and implements opportunities to improve cultural exchanges that reanimate or define the physical, social or cultural spaces of our cities as well as act as an advocate for artists and their working methodologies.
Public Art Programing / Project Management
Project planning, oversight and management, site analysis, artist selection/referrals, project timelines, strategic planning, contracts, site specific public art design and fabrication
Community Engagement
Plan and design appropriate community engagement strategies, identify community stakeholders, define possible limitations, and create strategies for staging engagement
Design / Concept Development
Creative problem solving for development projects, procedural methods and creating functional forms or layouts
Collaborative Creative Research
Design framework and oversight of topic or place specific collaborative creative research to identify the wants and needs of a focus group or site
